ABOUT TWEED VALLEY PODS

Welcome to Tweed Valley Pods, a locally owned, family-run, self catering cabin retreat nestled in the heart of the Tweed Valley. We offer tranquil, luxury, self catering glamping accommodation that is uniquely nature-focused in support of the Scottish Border’s natural beauty.

Located just one mile from Innerleithen’s expansive network of world class mountain biking trails, 2.5 miles from Glentress Trail Centre and 4 miles from Peebles. Our position in the valley provides excellent cycle and walking access for outdoor enthusiasts of all ages and abilities. Our site is perfectly located for easy, short walking access to several fly fishing beats on the River Tweed. Bike washing, E-bike charging and bike storage facilities with ground anchors are provided for guests (please bring your own bike chain).

Our location within easy access to Edinburgh also creates a rural, more secluded alternative for visiting the Edinburgh Festival etc.

There are also many beautiful walks on our doorstep. Enjoy exploring the local hills, steeped in ancient history, and take in the views on your relaxing private deck.

We encourage our guests to follow the Go Tweed Valley visitors charter and ‘Travel slow (walk, ride, paddle)’

In creating Tweed Valley Pods, our family shares with you the outdoor lifestyle we love. Split between the rolling Scottish hills of Tweed Valley and the forested mountains of the Pacific Northwest, we are keen mountain bikers, hikers, fly fishing folks and backcountry snow sports enthusiasts.  We are inspired by nature and simple living, care deeply about rewilding and giving back to the environment we enjoy.

SUSTAINABILITY

At Tweed Valley Pods we firmly believe that it is our duty and moral obligation to give back to the wonderful countryside that provides us with so much fun and relaxation.

REDUCE
We actively encourage our guests to minimise or eliminate the use of all plastics.

REUSE
We make all efforts to repurpose or reuse as much as possible.

RECYCLE
All pods are fitted with recycling bins. When it is not possible to reduce or reuse your waste, please ensure it is properly segregated and disposed of in the correct bins.

REWILDING

The Tweed Valley Pods site is rich in wildlife. In addition to the endangered red squirrel, many species can be spotted on and around the land: from hedgehogs and roe deer to woodpeckers, tree creepers and other birds. A seasonal woodland stream supplies water to the trees and provides a ready source of drinking water to our wild residents.

In a continued effort to maintain and grow this biodiversity, we have created improved wildlife habitats. Brush piles provide shelter for hedgehogs, and dead, fallen wood, allowed to rot on site, ensure they have plenty of insects to eat. Bat boxes have been mounted on trees in our woodland and two beehives sit a safe distance from the pods. With pollinator populations in rapid decline, our bees help wild plants thrive and give us a small share of delicious honey.

ENERGY / CO2 EMISSONS

Tweed Valley Pods have been built using timber sourced in Scotland. Local contractors were used to complete all work, ensuring our construction phases were carried out with the lowest possible carbon emissions. Our pods are fully insulated, all appliances are A+++ rated and lighting is either solar or LED low-energy. No LPG or mains gas is used to heat or cook in our pods. With such excellent access to numerous walking and cycling routes to Innerleithen, Peebles and beyond, Tweed Valley Pods provide the opportunity to ‘leave the car behind’ and reduce the carbon footprint of your stay in the valley.

REFORESTING

As part of our ongoing commitment to supporting the health of our local ecosystem, Tweed Valley Pods planted over 250 tree saplings and 500 hedging plants in the first phase of our onsite reforestation efforts. Native species including Scots Pine, Sessile Oak, Silver Birch, Rowan and others were carefully selected to nurture the wildlife in our immediate area.  Along with our existing mature woodland, new growth will contribute to more robust wildlife corridors across our land and offset the carbon emissions associated with the operation of our pods.

Our site was carefully selected due to the outstanding views it has to offer and its close proximity to both Glentress and Innerleithen mountain bike trails. However, it’s not all about biking at Tweed Valley Pods. We have many beautiful walks right from our doorstep with something to suit all ages and abilities. After a day exploring our beautiful hills, relax on your private decking area and take in the views.
